Sporting Round Up w/c 10 February 2025

It was a wonderful week of sport – from swimming to badminton to hockey.

Swimming

Our swimmers took to the water on Monday for the IAPS qualifying event. We are keeping our fingers crossed until April when we will find out if their times were fast enough to see them through to the finals.

Badminton

On Tuesday, our U13A badminton team of Rishit Kumar, Hanish Bala, Samarth Serish (Y8) and Tom Gray (Y7) were victorious in the Bedfordshire County Finals. The boys won every match in the final, dropping just one out of the 25 games played! Their brilliant win qualifies them for a playoff place in the regional finals in March.

There was also county success for the school’s U14A team. Tian Tian Yao (Y8) stepped up to play with boys from the Upper School in the competition and was instrumental in helping them secure the second county title of the week for the school.

Hockey

Tuesday also saw all our Year 3 boys travel to Winchester House School to play hockey against their hosts and Swanbourne House. Despite the cold, all had a great time and showed promise for the future.

Wednesday saw U13A-C, U12A-C and U11A-D play hockey against St Faith’s with varying levels of success. The U12D and U13D played against the Winchester House 3rd team in a triangular.

The U10A-D attended a festival of hockey at Oundle School along with teams from Laxton Junior (Oundle), Maidwell Hall and Kimbolton Team. Despite playing U11A opponents, they drew all three of their matches!

Cricket

Thursday saw our cricketers excitedly set out for their tour to South Africa. We wish them a wonderful, sun-filled week full of cricket and brilliant experiences.
