We are just two full weeks into the new school year, and so much sport has already been played, with rugby, skiing and table tennis matches, competitions and festivals enjoyed by boys of all ages.

Boys from Y4 through to Y8 have taken part in rugby fixtures against Witham Hall, Pitsford, Wellingborough, Caldicott, Spratton Hall and Stamford Junior, resulting in some enjoyable and enterprising play and a mixture of results. Rugby festivals at Swanbourne House (Y5) and Stamford Junior (Y6) also provided plenty of game time for the boys against a variety of opponents.

The first table tennis fixture of the year took place against Castle Newnham for the U11 team. The nine boys taking part displayed some skilful play in this enjoyable fixture.

Mr McGregor led a new skiing venture for our team of skiers from across the whole school. Following some training on the dry slope at Welwyn Garden City, teams at U12, U14, U16 and U19 competed in the English School’s Ski Association (ESSKIA) National Championship Qualifier event held on Sunday 16 September. We await confirmation as to whether any have qualified for the national final. Fingers crossed!

It has been just as rewarding to see so many boys playing and enjoying themselves in these opening weeks as it has to celebrate their scores at the end of play.
