In preparation for the English-Speaking Union’s annual Speaking Shakespeare Competition, five Prep School boys have been taking part in a series of online workshops, led by Royal Shakespeare Company practitioner and Old Bedfordian Oliver Lynes (02-07).

Oliver introduced the boys to the fundamentals of Shakespeare’s language, before teaching them an array of Royal Shakespeare Company techniques to use in their chosen speeches.

Ben Cutts, Henry Gillham and James Pinkney in Y8 and Advik Mishra and Aryan Sohanpal in Y7 were undaunted by the prospect of tackling Shakespeare online; all threw themselves wholeheartedly into the sessions, gaining inspiration and insight that could take them far in the competition.

The first round of the competition is being held online during February and March. We wish all the boys taking part the very best of luck.
