The Harrow fixture is always a tough contest for the school and this year’s block fixture proved true to form.

Bedford won just one game from U16A and below but what a game that was!  The U14C triumphant by the narrowest of margins, Amir Solanki with one to remember scoring two of Bedford’s three tries.  The U14A team had a tight contest as they continue to grow in stature.  If they continue in the same manner, they could be a force to be reckoned with next year.

The 2nd XV played some good rugby in their match and showed real intent to move the ball.  In contrast, a more direct and battle hardened Harrow team managed to pounce on a few mistakes and crash over the try line after battering Bedford’s defences.  A different story with the 3rd and 4th XVs, who were comfortable victors.  The 3rd XV march on.

With the injury hit U15A team away to a very strong Uppingham side in the NatWest Cup, the rest of the U15 teams were stretched in numbers.  However, the boys displayed incredible spirit and worked tirelessly to keep out the Harrow U15s who could boast plenty of strength in depth.

The 1st XV had an impressive win against Epsom College in the Champions Trophy semi-final.  Bedford found themselves slightly off the pace in the first half and conceded a try.  However, they regrouped and started to press the opposition try line at the end of the half.  This momentum continued into the second half and their attacking threat was a lot more evident.  Bedford were rewarded for their persistent pressure by two tries, both from scrums.  These were the last points of the game and a heroic defensive effort, similar to that displayed against Warwick the previous Saturday, prevented an equalising score late in the second half.
