Mixed fixtures this weekend brought mixed fortunes. None more so than with the U14 teams, but more evidence of their strength in depth as the C, D and E teams put together superb performances to beat their opposition. The most impressive fact being that not a single point was scored against them in the three games. The U14 A and B teams, however, faced strong A teams and although both would finish the day disappointed, they have plenty to reflect on and a clear insight in what areas they need to work on in training.
The U16 teams continue their impressive record and the U16C team stay at 100% wins for the season. The U15 C and D teams are also witnessing similar success this season as they continue to impress with their performances.
The 2nd team chalked up their first win of the season with a much improved performance against Loughborough Grammar School. This will give them confidence with a challenging few games ahead. The 4th XV were involved in the most exciting game of the week. A tight contest throughout the game, both teams equally determined to beat the other. Bedford, however, were slightly more clinical and edged the game by 5 points. The 1st XV played with much better shape and control this weekend and scored two early and very well worked tries. Bedford continued to apply pressure but mistakes meant that some opportunities were not taken and Loughborough got back into the game with more possession and a try of their own. However, Bedford regrouped and adjusted the game plan to regain control and muscle their way up the field to score a couple more tries late in the second half and close out comfortable winners.
