Robotics Club Gear Up for VEX Competition

Robotics Club Gear Up for VEX Competition

Excitement reached new heights this week as our Robotics Club boys vied for a spot in this year’s VEX Robotics competition.

The classrooms buzzed with activity as the boys busily built and coded their robots in preparation for their first go in the competition arenas.

To test their skills, the boys tackled last year’s VEX challenge, which involved a treasure hunt. Their robots had to identify the colour of blocks and take the appropriate action—collecting red blocks while leaving all others. This was a true test of their control and guidance abilities.

Next week, four teams of three advance to the collaborative build day, marking the official start of this year’s thrilling competition.

The unique structure of the competition will pair the Bedford Prep teams with teams from other schools, requiring them to work collaboratively, share knowledge and learn from one another to succeed. We look forward to welcoming and working with Bedford Academy, St Edmund’s College and Heron Hall Academy.

About Robotics Club

Our Robotics Club has proved so popular that boys need to apply for one of the limited places. Head of Prep Computing, Mrs Dale, explains, “The club is a real hit with our creative and curious boys who love the challenge it offers. As they build their robots, they learn a whole range of future skills in engineering and coding as well as enhancing their creativity, teamwork, leadership and problem-solving.”
