Our budding Prep School gardeners were delighted to be rewarded for successfully completing their RHS School Gardening Awards Level 3 with £150 worth of vegetable and fruit plug plants.

As experts in preparing areas for planting, we are pleased to say that the boys had their prize fruit and vegetables planted out in no time at all, and are now looking forward to caring for them throughout the summer term before their final harvest.

Since we last wrote, the boys have been busy learning about habitats and where food comes from as well as composting thanks to the wormery Madame Chaillou added to the Gardening Club’s corner of the estate. We are also pleased to report that the worms are thriving thanks to staff common room leftovers (the healthy ones!) – so much so that not only will the boys soon have plenty of compost to use so will our Grounds Team for around the school estate.

It is just wonderful to see the Gardening Club, which has been running for just over a year, keep growing in success and popularity. Madame Chaillou and the boys now have their sights firmly set on the RHS Level 4 award, which includes, among other things, cooking some of the fruit and vegetables they have produced.
