Our intrepid Y4 boys set off to the old town of Verulamium (St Albans) on Monday 11 November to uncover fascinating facts about the Romans – the subject of their history studies this term.

The boys had fun taking part in a Roman trail and learning about the Romans through role-play and experiential activities in small groups. They also re-enacted the story of Alban, saint and martyr, in full costume with the stunning Cathedral as their backdrop.

Throughout the day, the boys discovered all about day to day life in Verulamium during Roman times. They even took part in some historic crafting when they created their very own mosaic tiles after looking at some of the mosaics from the town.

The boys certainly ‘seized the day’ and made the most of the fun educational experience – Carpe Diem indeed!
