In 1066, two key battles took place within just three weeks of each other: The Battle of Stamford Bridge and the more widely known Battle of Hastings.

After learning about this period of history, discussing the claimants to the English throne and the events behind the confrontations in the classroom, our Y5 boys were ready to pick up their shields and bring the battles between Viking, Norman and Anglo-Saxon armies to life.

With their colourful shields, made by the boys, they were a sight to see as a piece of history unfolded on the Prep Astro.

Who would win? Well, that went down in history!
