We are proud to announce that Lower Sixth Former Sergeant Stirling Smallwood has been appointed as one of five Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets for Bedfordshire for the year 2025/26. His appointment recognises his exemplary leadership, service and commitment within the RAF section of Bedford School’s Combined Cadet Force.
The commissioning ceremony, held at Bedford School on Wednesday 1 October, was led by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Susan Lousada, and attended by distinguished guests including civic leaders, military personnel and the families of the cadets.
As a Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet, Stirling will support the Lord-Lieutenant in official duties throughout the year, including civic ceremonies, remembrance events and Royal visits.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Lord-Lieutenant praised the cadets, “Their appointment marks the beginning of a year of service and is a recognition of their dedication, discipline and leadership. Each of them stands as a shining example of the values that strengthen our communities.”
This honour reflects Stirling’s outstanding contribution to the Combined Cadet Force and the values upheld by Bedford School. We congratulate him on this prestigious achievement and look forward to seeing all he will accomplish in the year ahead.
