Academic Enrichment and Support
We are committed to creating a learning environment where every boy is supported and challenged to reach his full potential, and our staff are dedicated to delivering lessons that are engaging, inclusive and tailored to individual needs.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Boys are naturally curious, energetic and eager to explore. That is why our enrichment activities are designed to nurture inquisitive minds, spark imagination and foster a lifelong love of learning. Through hands-on challenges, creative problem-solving and active exploration, boys learn to think independently, take initiative and grow in confidence.
Our curriculum is brought to life through experiences that connect classroom learning with the wider world, including:
- Educational visits to museums, galleries, and historic sites
- Ickwell Conservation Reserve trips, building teamwork and resilience in the great outdoors
- Expert-led workshops across diverse fields
- Residential trips in the UK and beyond, broadening horizons and independence
- Inspiring guest speakers offering real-world insights
These opportunities encourage boys to look outward, understand the world, and see how their learning connects to life beyond school.
Enrichment that Inspires
Our boys enjoy a wide range of activities that stimulate both intellect and imagination. From lively debating sessions and the dynamic Shakespeare Slam, to engaging enrichment talks led by Sixth Form boys, there are countless opportunities to learn from and with others.
Outdoor classroom days bring learning to life in natural settings, while quizzes and competitions add excitement and challenge, encouraging boys to test their knowledge and collaborate with peers.
Every activity is designed to inspire curiosity, build confidence and celebrate the joy of learning.
Supporting Every Boy to Thrive
Our experienced Academic Support Department works closely with teachers to provide additional strategies and resources for boys with a range of learning needs, including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, ASC and those who may benefit from extra help with skills like comprehension, planning or handwriting.
Support is flexible and responsive. Some boys benefit from small group sessions to reinforce classroom learning, while others may receive one-to-one support for more personalised guidance. All additional support is provided by our specialist team at no extra cost.
We value strong partnerships with parents and encourage open communication from the start. Working together ensures that every boy receives the support he needs to grow in confidence and make excellent progress throughout his time at the school.
