The summer finally making an appearance for the highly anticipated annual Parents v Staff (Ousels) cricket match, which took place on Sunday 16 June.
The Parents batted first, putting on a competitive 167 in their 30 overs. The Parents bowled well and Ousel wickets fell at regular intervals, although the runs continued to flow. However, with last year’s skipper Giles Warner catching the big hitting Mr Lincoln on the boundary and the dangerous Mr Silk back in the pavilion, the Parents started to dream that this could be their year. However, try as they may, they were unable to prise the excellent Nick Hopton from the crease, who scored an unbeaten half century and led the Ousels to a narrow one wicket victory. So near, yet so far…
A big thank you to the Prep Guild who put on refreshments, and to all the players and supporters who made this a very memorable and enjoyable day. Interest in the Parents’ cricket team has been really high this year, so we will be looking to put on more fixtures in 2025.
