Competition has been fierce this week as our Y7 and Y8 tutor groups have been trying to win Howard House’s charity event for this term: Penny Wars.

The clever competition encourages boys, in their tutor groups, to track down loose coppers (1p and 2p coins) to raise funds for their chosen charity, the Tibbs Dementia Foundation, who provide critical help and support to people with dementia and their carers living in Bedfordshire.

However, in a fiendish twist, boys can scupper other tutor groups’ scores by sneakily adding 5p, 10p, 20p and 50p coins to their collecting jars when they are not looking, which results in negative points!

With Y3 to Y6 set to join in the fun next week, Tutors and boys alike will need to be even more vigilant and keep their eyes peeled for wily and artful tactics as everyone competes to be the winner of the ‘Penny Wars’!

Donations to this great local charity would also be very gratefully received.
