Bedford School is celebrating a third successive year of increasing leavers’ exam results. 59% of exams – at International Baccalaureate (IB) and A-Level – were marked at A or A* and 84% at A*-B. Over 20% of the school’s 110 A-Level entrants scored two A* grades or more. Ten boys have secured places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities with their outstanding results. Rohan Sanghera achieved a remarkable five A* grades at A-Level and will be taking up a place at Cambridge to read Medicine, and Tonny Lou achieved four A* grades and will read Physics at Oxford. Two pupils, Ed Lamb and Andrew Zhu, achieved full marks (45) in the IB, placing them in the top 0.13% in the World.
‘These are stunning results’, said Head Master, James Hodgson, ‘and we are hugely proud of this year group. They have worked hard and deserve their academic success; but more importantly, they are great young men who leave with many varied interests away from the classroom and a strong set of values for life. They have taken their opportunity for a wonderful grounding. I also pay tribute to the expertise of our teachers, who have faced the challenge of the first year of reformed A-Levels with real aplomb’.
