Outstanding Achievements at Bedfordshire Swimming County Championships

Luke Toland (Year 8), Kuba Kopec (Year 7) and Seth Barley (Year 5) delivered remarkable performances, collectively bringing home 17 medals for their respective swim clubs at the Bedfordshire Swimming County Championships.

Luke Toland had a brilliant competition representing Flitwick. He secured two gold medals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, a silver in the 1,500m freestyle and two bronze medals in the 50m breaststroke and 400m individual medley in the 14-year age group.

Luke also achieved regional qualifying times in the 100m and 200m breaststroke and will represent the county in May. His bronze in the Junior 100m breaststroke made him the third fastest swimmer among all competitors aged 15 and under.

Kuba Kopec, competing for Bedford Swim Squad, had an exceptional weekend, winning three gold medals in the 800m freestyle, 400m individual medley and 200m butterfly. He also earned six silver medals in the 50m, 100m and 400m freestyle, 50m and 100m butterfly and 200m individual medley, along with a bronze medal in the 200m freestyle and medley team relay in the 12-year age group.

Kuba’s impressive performance earned him the overall silver medal for his age group, and regional qualifying times in the 50m, 100m, and 200m butterfly will see him go on to represent the county in May.

Also representing Bedford Swim Squad, Seth Barley won a bronze medal in the 200m team freestyle in the 10/11-year age group.

Congratulations to all the boys on their outstanding successes. Their results are testament to their dedication to the sport and the countless hours spent training in the pool, both morning and night.
