For many, working in Formula 1 sounds like the coolest job ever. So you can imagine how excited our Year 6 boys were when Oracle Red Bull Racing’s STEM X team came to visit! They brought the world of F1 right into school with exciting activities that mixed fun and learning.
The boys got stuck into three big challenges:
- Pit Stop Challenge – Could they change tyres and swap a piece of Max Verstappen’s car as fast as the pros?
- Track Coding – Could they use Scratch coding to guide a car around famous tracks like Monaco or Silverstone?
- Build and Race – Could they design and race their own cars?
The answer? Absolutely!
In fact, the boys were so quick and worked so well together that they beat the times of some secondary schools in the Pit Stop Challenge! Their teamwork and communication were brilliant, and the Oracle Red Bull Racing team were full of praise.
The special day linked perfectly with our Curriculum Collapse Day that same week, which was all about careers. For many of the boys, learning about jobs in Formula 1 was inspiring—showing that science, technology, engineering and maths can lead to exciting futures.
It was a day full of speed, teamwork and discovery, and we might just have some future engineers in the making!
