Offers in from Oxbridge and Top Universities

With Oxbridge decisions now released, we are delighted that boys already have offers from all the Top 10 Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide universities (Cambridge, Oxford, St Andrews, Imperial, Durham, Lancaster, UCL, Loughborough, Warwick, Leeds and LSE). Boys have also received offers from excellent universities always popular with our students, such as Kings College London, Bath, Bristol, Nottingham, Manchester, Birmingham, York and Exeter.

Boys with Oxbridge offers:

Oxford:

Oscar Calvert: Economics & Management, Jesus College
Sami Haroon: Theology & Philosophy, St Peter’s College
Nat Otley: English Language & Literature, Merton College

Cambridge:

Reuben Glenville: Engineering, Homerton College
Robert Menhart: Engineering, Peterhouse College
Antonio Reale: History, Girton College

Oscar Calvert who is studying the International Baccalaureate, has received an offer to read Economics & Management at Jesus College, Cambridge, told us, “I was over the moon to receive an offer – I still don’t really believe it.”

“The application process was thorough, but luckily I received lots of help from the school. I chose the course as the two subjects complement each other well and the college because it offered the best aspects of both subjects, with economics having a strong focus on research.”

It is unusually early in the year to receive offers for some of these universities – we are clearly bucking the national trend. Offers are continuing to flood in every day and so this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Mel Lincoln, Head of Careers and UCAS explained, “To get an offer from universities such as Imperial, LSE and UCL this early in the year is very impressive. Our boys clearly have made an impact with the quality of their applications.”

Oscar Terry who has received an offer to read Geology at Imperial, said, “I feel very pleased with the offer. It is the best university in the country for Earth Sciences and to receive this offer so early is a huge privilege. I favoured Imperial over my other choices as they have been the most proactive. I was rather surprised as I was not expecting contact so soon.”

Outside the UCAS process, offers are also coming in for international universities and other interesting scholarships including, James Watson who will take up an Organ Scholarship at St Davids Cathedral.

International offers so far include David Hemel-Henn, who has been offered a scholarship offer from Xavier in Cincinnati, USA, and Ellis Morgan who has accepted an offer at Rollins College, also in the USA, and will be playing Division II soccer for them.

Deputy Head (Academic) Mr Sam Baldock said, “We are absolutely delighted for the boys, it is a true testament to their hard work and dedication, and it is always so inspiring to see their ambitions in such a diverse range of subjects. I am also just as proud of those boys who put themselves forward for a competitive course but did not receive an offer. They too have worked hard and shown courage and endeavour.”
