The OB Cricket Club took on Sherborne Pilgrims on 28th June. There was strength in depth as the OBs fielded a slightly different side from that which saw our first round victory over Uppingham.

Weddings, family engagements, end of school engagements and minor county cricket required a change to the XI, none the less early wickets ensured that we were chasing a relatively small total of 162, which we chased down with 8 wickets and 18 overs in hand. A half century from Tim Graham (08-13) saw us comfortably over the line following a strong opening partnership between Notley and Aitkenhead.

We now face Eton Ramblers in the quarter finals on 12th July [a rematch has been scheduled for 19th July], the first time we have reached this stage of this prestigious competition.

It is also an exciting time for other OB cricketers – Alastair Cook (98-03) will be starting the Ashes series this summer as Captain.
