On the evening of Saturday 19th November Richard Hext (67-74) kindly hosted a Dinner at the Hong Kong Club to mark the 125th Anniversary of the official formation of the Old Bedfordians Club. OBs, partners, as well as current and past parents all had a very enjoyable evening, and although a long way from Bedford, it was clear to see that there was a special bond between all who attended. Guests had kindly travelled from across the region to attend this event, and it was particularly impressive that some had even travelled from as far as Australia and the UK to be there.

Over drinks James Hodgson, the Head Master, gave an update on the School, and at the Dinner Simon Murray CBE (49-58) spoke about his strong links with Asia, and shared some funny and irreverent stories about his time at the School. Simon is an outstanding example of what can be achieved in life with a ‘can do’ spirit – plus prodigious and indefatigable energy! At the end of the evening David Murray (69-76), President of the Old Bedfordians Club said a few words about the Club, encouraging all OBs to stay in touch and to get involved in what is now a truly global network. He thanked the Hong Kong Club for looking after everybody so well, but in particular thanked Richard Hext, and the Club’s local District Vice President, Ambrose Wang (01-06) for all they had done to make the evening such a success.

Several OBs based in Hong Kong could not make the Dinner, but caught up with the Head Master, President and Mrs Murray, on separate occasions. Thank you to all for making them feel so welcome. We hope to build upon this event and have a more informal OB gathering in Hong Kong in 2017; with this in mind all OBs in Hong Kong are asked to stay in touch with Ambrose.
