We were pleased to hear that, as of January 2019, Old Bedfordian Jason Lotay (87-98) will take on the prestigious roles of Professor of Pure Mathematics at the University of Oxford and Tutorial Fellow at Balliol College.

Jerome Watson (staff), recalls spotting Jason’s talent during his time at the School, “I remember well the Further Maths set of ’98, four boys achieved Oxbridge places for Maths. Impressed by Jason’s ability I got in touch with my old tutor, Peter Collins, at St Edmund Hall and a place there followed. Jason went on to win the Gibbs Prize for the best degree in his cohort at Oxford and the rest is history!”

Since leaving the School, Jason has had an extremely successful academic career and is a well-recognised figure in his field. Find out more about Jason’s various achievements including his research, talks and publications, here

We would like to take this opportunity to wish Jason all the best in his role and do hope to welcome him back to the School in the near future.
