NSFW by Lucy Kirkwood is the first play to be performed in The Studio at The Quarry Theatre at St Lukes. First staged at The Royal Court Theatre in 2012 this production is directed by the Director of Theatre, Jules Crossley, with pupils from Bedford School and Bedford Girls School.
NSFW refers to online material which the viewer may not want to be seen accessing in a public or formal setting, i.e. Not Safe For Work. Set in a typical lads magazine, Doghouse, and a womens fashion magazine, Electra, this clever comedy raises some important issues about the media such as; privacy, the responsibility of the press, how women are portrayed in mens and womens magazines and conditions for young graduates trying to get into the fiercely competitive world of journalism.
“A cracking piece
dramatically gripping
a richly absorbing and inventive play!
