(for Current Y8 Boys as they Join the Upper School in September 2020)

A range of scholarships are available to current Bedford Prep School boys as they move into Year 9 in the Upper School. Scholarships are awarded to boys who excel academically, or show outstanding talent in Art, Drama, Music, Sports (Rugby, Hockey, Rowing and Cricket) or Golf. Boys who meet the criteria for two or more scholarships may be considered for an all-round award.

The scholarship booklet which contains further information on each award can be viewed by clicking on this link Scholarship Booklet. Scholarship application forms can be collected from the Prep School Reception or are available to download from the Admissions section of the school website. Scholarship applications should be returned to the Admissions Office together with all supplementary information requested (please refer to the application form). Boys applying for a sports scholarship need only provide references/testimonials from coaches who train them outside of school. Likewise, music references are only needed from instrumental teachers who are external to Bedford School.

Financial support is also available to boys entering Year 9 on a means-tested basis through the Harpur Trust Bursary Scheme. If you would like to receive further information about bursaries, please contact the Admissions Office at admissions@bedfordschool.org.uk  or by telephone on 01234 362216. We will then send you a link to the Harpur Trust’s online application form.

Please note that means-tested bursaries are academically competitive awards and current Year 8 boys applying for a new bursary as they join the Upper School will be required to sit the same entrance assessments as external applicants for Year 9. Current bursary holders do not need to re-apply as their awards are expected to continue until the end of Year 13, subject to them continuing to meet financial eligibility.
