Alex Papp (Fifth Form) is set to attend the live final at this year’s Notes from Scotland competition at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Saturday 17 June. Alex is just one of four finalists.

The competition is a partnership between the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the National Trust for Scotland, open to composers aged between 12 to 18 years. To secure his place in the final, Alex had to compose a 2- to 5-minute piece of music for an instrumental trio, quartet or quintet inspired by some of Scotland’s breathtaking landmarks including Culzean Castle, Ayrshire; Glencoe, The Highlands and Newhailes, Edinburgh.

The composition of each finalist will be showcased – with the winner being announced live. This is an impressive achievement – the very best of luck to Alex for the final!
