Y8’s Creative Exploration of the Human Body

Y8’s Creative Exploration of the Human Body

Our Y8 boys enjoyed a fun introduction to their new science topic: Human Biology.

Our Y8 boys actively participated in their learning in the fun class that tested their existing knowledge. They created life-size body outlines by drawing around themselves before identifying organs and body parts. The boys then moved on to modelling organ systems out of Play-Doh, a hands-on activity that truly engaged them in the learning process.

Over the coming weeks, boys can look forward to learning about the human digestive system from the Head of Science, Mr Mason, who promises a highly visual, fun demonstration of the digestion process.

The boys will also explore the cardiovascular system using the school VR headsets. The boys will have control over their areas of interest and can investigate any individual areas of interest even further.

To understand how blood moves around the body, the boys will also take over the Astro to create a giant moving circulatory system, with each boy playing his part. They will also take a real-life look at the heart by dissecting a pig’s heart.

Mr Mason explained, “Bringing science to life through experiments and demonstrations always enhances engagement, improves understanding and ensures the lessons are memorable.”
