Our U15 golf team enjoyed a remarkable start to the season, claiming both the team and individual titles at the prestigious Swifts Schools Golf Tournament held over 36 holes at Kilnwick Percy Golf Club in York.
The six-player squad, made up of one Prep School boy and five Upper School boys, produced an outstanding display across the two-day competition to emerge as convincing winners against a strong national field.
After the opening round, the boys had already established a commanding five-shot lead in the team competition. Individually, Oliver sat in second place, Daniel in third, Jack in fifth and team captain Nathan in sixth, putting the team in a strong position heading into the second day.
With challenging winds sweeping across the course during the final round, the team delivered under pressure. Nathan produced the standout performance of the tournament, firing a superb two-under-par 68 to secure the individual title by two shots.
His excellent round helped Bedford extend their advantage in the team standings, sealing victory by an impressive nine strokes and completing a memorable double success.
The final individual standings saw Nathan crowned champion, while Oliver finished fourth, Daniel fifth and Jack sixth. Jacob also contributed strongly with a 12th-place finish, while Charlie played an important role as part of the victorious squad.
This impressive success at the Swifts Schools Golf Tournament is a fantastic achievement for the team and an encouraging sign for the season ahead. With strength throughout the squad, determination under pressure and a winning mentality on display, our young golfers can take great confidence from an outstanding opening performance.
