Huge congratulations to our U11 hockey team who produced a winning performance at the IAPS Regional Qualifier, playing with real composure, teamwork and belief to win all their matches.
As hosts this year, we were delighted to welcome 13 visiting teams from across the region, representing some of the best in schoolboy hockey. It was a busy, enjoyable day, and a lovely opportunity to bring so many young players with a shared love of hockey together.
Our U11 team did a great job both on and off the pitch. As hosts, the boys represented the school with kindness and maturity, as well as delivering an outstanding performance to win the tournament, scoring 22 goals across nine matches without conceding one.
The boys’ cohesion and teamwork shone through in every match, with each player contributing to the collective effort. Strong tackling and a rock solid defence provided the foundation, while the team produced a blend of excellent passing moves and impressive individual skill to convert some excellent goals.
Reflecting on the day Mr Mason, Head of Prep Hockey, said:
“We are immensely proud of what the boys achieved at the IAPS qualifier. Not only did they play with brilliant skill and outstanding teamwork, but they also showed exemplary sportsmanship from start to finish. A huge thank-you to Mr Hoggett for his dedication and coaching and to all the parents on the sideline for their enthusiastic support in chilly conditions.”
Thanks to their performances, the team now go through to the IAPS Finals at Repton School on 20 March.
