Sunshine, Spirit, and Success at Henley Royal Regatta

Sunshine, Spirit, and Success at Henley Royal Regatta

This week we once again enjoyed the sunshine and the vibrant regatta atmosphere at Henley. More than 150 OBs, Parents, and Past Parents gathered at Henley Royal Regatta to support the 1st VIII and reconnect over a refreshing glass of Pimm’s. Our new school gazebo proved a fantastic addition, offering a smart and welcoming space for everyone to relax – with sincere thanks to the Parents Guild for their generous support in making it possible.

As the drinks reception drew to a close, the 1st VIII delivered a superb performance, defeating Eton College by one and a half lengths — an excellent start to their regatta campaign.

This year, 30 OBs are competing at Henley across various trophies, and we wish each of them the very best of luck. A special mention goes to Hugh Maltby (73–83), Director of the Old Bedfordians Club, who will be taking part in a Celebratory Row Past on Saturday to mark the 40th anniversary of Reading University’s victory in the Visitors’ Challenge Cup. Do say hello if you spot him at the regatta.

Thank you to everyone who joined us — your support and enthusiasm made the day a true celebration of our community.
