Spectacular Results for Our IB Cohort

Spectacular Results for Our IB Cohort

Our final cohort of International Baccalaureate boys have achieved an outstanding set of results, with half of the year group scoring 40 points or more out of a maximum 45. Of the ten boys who completed the IB Diploma Programme this summer, five achieved the exceptional milestone of 40+ points and the most common Higher-Level grade awarded across the cohort was a 7 which is equivalent to an A* at A Level.

The cohort performed strongly across the board, with every boy securing an excellent result. Our average score was almost 38 points, significantly above the global average of 30.5 points. These results are a testament to the boys’ endeavour and intellectual curiosity, as well as the dedication of their teachers and the support of the wider Bedford School community.

We congratulate all of our IB boys on their achievements and wish them every success as they take their next steps to leading universities and exciting opportunities beyond Bedford School.

“I am absolutely thrilled for these boys” said Head Master, James Hodgson.  “Throughout their time here, they have made the very best of the opportunities they have had for this most rounded and excellent of educations and have capped that experience with an outstanding set of results. I wish them all well for their futures; they have built a great platform”.

Among the many individual success stories, three boys who achieved 40+ points have also secured their places at the University of Oxford. Ansel, Tristan and Max have all met their offers and will go on to read Law, Geography and German respectively. Their achievements are a fitting reflection of the curiosity and quiet determination that have characterised this final Bedford School IB cohort, and we wish them and all the boys every success as they begin the next chapter of their journeys at Oxford and beyond.

These highly impressive IB results provide an early opportunity to celebrate the achievements of this year’s leavers. With the majority of the year group studying A-Levels, we look forward to sharing further results and university destinations when they are published in August.

These outstanding results are also a fitting tribute to Director of the IB, Adrian Finch, who concludes his tenure leading the programme here at Bedford School. Through his unwavering dedication and care, Mr Finch has played an instrumental role in shaping the success of IB boys. It is particularly fitting that his final cohort has achieved such outstanding results.
