We are delighted to celebrate the success of Upper Sixth Former Sean, who has been awarded the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) Supporting Excellence ‘Best Senior Artwork’ Award, a prestigious national accolade recognising outstanding creative talent across the UK.
The award was presented at the BSA Supporting Excellence Awards ceremony, where incoming Head Master Michael Sloan was proud to collect the honour on Sean’s behalf, a fitting moment of recognition for work that has made an impact on a national stage.
Sean described the moment he received the news as, “A great feeling… being able to get recognition on a national scale,” – a reflection of both the significance of the award and the personal meaning behind his piece.
His artwork draws on his experience of boarding life, seeking, Sean says, to “capture the cultural melting pot that is now the UK through the lens of my boarding house,” and highlighting the “benefits of being surrounded by diversity.” The result is a thoughtful and personal piece that celebrates community, identity and the richness of shared experiences.
At its heart, the work is not just visually striking, but emotionally resonant. Sean is particularly proud that it remains closely tied to his own journey at school, explaining that it is “deeply connected to my boarding house and therefore something I will look back fondly on.”
This national recognition is a testament not only to Sean’s technical skill, but to his ability to communicate meaning and perspective through his art and capturing a sense of belonging that will resonate far beyond the classroom.
We are incredibly proud of Sean for this well-deserved achievement and look forward to seeing where his creative talents take him next.
