A remarkable 143 students across Years 11, 12 and 13 recently took part in the UK Mathematics Challenge, demonstrating both the strength and enthusiasm for mathematics across school.
The sheer number of boys entering the competition reflects the growing appetite for mathematical problem-solving and academic challenge, with pupils tackling a series of demanding questions designed to test logic, insight and perseverance.
The journey does not end here. The highest-performing pupils will qualify for the Andrew Jobbings Senior Kangaroo Challenge, before aspiring to reach the prestigious British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1.
We look forward to sharing more success stories as the results progress. Watch this space. 🔢⭐

Our Combined Cadet Force (CCF) cadets recently enjoyed two incredible experiences, gaining first-hand insight into military life with the RAF and Royal Navy.
Nine RAF cadets from Bedford School and @bedfordgirlssch travelled to RAF Wittering, where they completed parachute training before taking to the skies for a 40-minute flight with RAF pilots. More than just passengers, each cadet had the opportunity to take the controls and experience the concentration and discipline required to fly an aircraft, before enjoying a thrilling display of aerial manoeuvres including loops and barrel rolls.
Meanwhile, our Royal Navy cadets visited HMS Prince of Wales, exploring the bridge and flight deck of one of the UK's most advanced aircraft carriers. A highlight of the visit was getting up close to an F-35 Lightning II fighter jet and learning about the technology and expertise that underpin modern naval operations.

Our Drama Scholars enjoyed a fascinating workshop with award-winning BBC writer, actor and broadcaster Jeremy Front, exploring the art of vocal performance for radio. Drawing on his extensive experience in broadcasting, writing and voice work, Jeremy led an engaging session on the subtle differences between using the voice for stage, television and voiceover performances, helping pupils develop new techniques and a deeper understanding of the craft.
Drama Scholar, Daniel reflected, "It was fantastic to have the opportunity to learn from a professional voiceover artist. Learning the subtle differences between using the voice for the stage, TV and voiceover work was really interesting. I can't wait to play around with this."
A huge thank you to Jeremy for sharing his expertise and inspiring the next generation of performers. 🎭🎙️

📚🌍 Celebrating European Day of Languages! 🌍📚
Our Sixth Form linguists brought languages and cultures to life with a fantastic programme of activities to mark European Day of Languages. From cultural quizzes and cheese tasting to an Italian taster lesson, blind food challenges, and language guessing games, pupils from Fourth Form to Sixth Form embraced the opportunity to broaden their horizons and have some fun along the way.
The event took place alongside our non-uniform day, with boys also raising money for charity, making it a day of learning and giving back.
A huge thank you to our Sixth Form pupils for organising such an engaging and successful event. And for those wondering, Manchego was crowned the favourite cheese of the day! 🧀👏

How can we help our teenagers develop the qualities they will need to thrive in life beyond school? That was the thought-provoking question at the heart of the first Parent Partnership event of the year, as we welcomed educational researcher and parenting expert Dr Kathy Weston, founder of Tooled Up Education, to school.
Drawing on the latest research and her own experiences as a parent, Dr Weston shared practical, evidence-based strategies to help young people develop confidence, resilience and wellbeing, alongside plenty of warmth, humour and food for thought.

🌟 We are featured in the Tatler Schools Guide 2027! 🌟
We are delighted to be featured in the Tatler Schools Guide 2027, one of the most respected and influential publications in independent education. Schools are selected independently by Tatler's editorial team, and we are proud to be the only independent school in Bedfordshire included in this year's guide.
The review highlights an exciting period in our history, recognising the arrival of Head Master Michael Sloan and plans for our new Sixth Form Centre, alongside a culture that encourages pupils to embrace opportunity both inside and beyond the classroom.
Tatler also celebrates the breadth of opportunity, from entrepreneurship and leadership programmes to cybersecurity competitions, exceptional sporting provision and our unique planetarium and observatory. It also shines a spotlight on our community spirit, including pupils raising more than £45,000 for Movember.
Since the review was compiled, we have also announced a landmark new chapter, welcoming girls from September 2027, further strengthening our vision for a vibrant, inclusive and future-focused community.
