OB Club Annual Dinner – A Night to Remember

OB Club Annual Dinner – A Night to Remember

On 15th November 2025, 150 Old Bedfordians and their guests gathered for this year’s OB Club Annual Dinner. The evening began with a lively drinks reception in the Café Bar, followed by a delicious three-course meal in the Great Hall.

Our Guest Speaker, James Shaw LVO (90-98), captivated the room with his extraordinary account of leading the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral procession which was arguably one of the most-watched live events in history, with a reputed 4 billion viewers worldwide. James spoke candidly about the 11 days leading up to the funeral, sharing how meticulous planning, strong leadership, and relentless energy were essential to delivering such a historic occasion.

We also heard inspiring speeches from James Hodgson, Head Master, and Richard Northern (63-72), President of the Old Bedfordians Club, celebrating the incredible achievements of OBs this year – including Fraser Dingwall (13-17), who represented England earlier that day in their historic victory over New Zealand, (beating them for only the ninth time in 120 years) and scoring a try in the process!

Adding to the evening’s sense of tradition and camaraderie, we were delighted to welcome seven former members of staff, including two former Head Masters, Philip Evans and Sidney Miller, alongside Bob Eadie, David Jarret, Andrew Morris, Jerome Watson, and Peter Wiser.

It was fantastic to see OBs spanning nearly seven decades, from 1954 to 2022 – sharing stories and forging new connections. The OB community truly is something special, and this year’s Annual Dinner was a wonderful celebration of that spirit.
