Our amazing Year 4 boys put on not one but two wonderful performances of the children’s classic We’re Going on a Bear Hunt — en français!
“Nous allons à la chasse à l’ours.
Nous allons en prendre un très gros.
La vie est belle !
Nous n’avons peur de rien.”
Their first performance was for our Year 3 boys and the Pilgrims’ Pre-Prep Reception class, who were excited to be on their very first school trip. From start to finish, the audience was captivated as the actors tackled the long wavy grass (Flou flou), the deep cold river (Splich splach), the thick oozy mud (Plaf plouf), the big dark forest (Houu houu), and a whirling snowstorm (Frouu frouu) — complete with special effects and brilliant sound work. There was laughter throughout, and it was wonderful to see how clearly the children followed the story in French.
In the afternoon, the boys performed it all over again — this time for their parents, who were just as delighted by the lively storytelling and confident French speaking.
Bravo to all the boys, to Dayen in Year 8 (our very grumpy bear!) and to Mrs Loader for such a fantastic production.
