An article in the December 1993 edition of The Ousel entitled ‘Fruit of The Kiln’ gives an insight into the history of pottery-making at the school.
There has been a kiln in the Art Department for a number of years, and pottery sessions were held regularly as part of PPC on Wednesday afternoons. However, it was not until 1988 that pottery became part of the Art course leading to GCSE and A-Level Art. It was at this stage that a pottery was set up and later moved to its present site, which is more spacious and better equipped.
