Excitement was running high as boys gathered for the first Fiesta Friday of the year, always a popular evening in the Prep School.
As we write, boys are making the most of the late summer sunshine with a brilliant new outdoor game: Raid the Nest, combining teamwork, quick thinking and a lot of laughter. In six teams, boys must defend their own nests with pool noodle swords and bin lid shields while plotting raids on rival territories in search of treasure. With rugby balls to collect and opponents to evade, success depends on cooperation, courage and a little tactical brilliance.
There is plenty more to look forward to in the weeks ahead too, including pool parties, movie nights and a host of sporting and team-based activities designed to make Friday evenings something special.
Beyond the fun and games, Fiesta Fridays give boys the opportunity to strengthen friendships across year groups, spend time together beyond the classroom and develop an even greater sense of belonging within the school community. From shared activities and meals to time spent relaxing in the boarding house, they gain a genuine insight into life in boarding and what makes it such a valued part of school life.
Launched last year and designed with families in mind, Fiesta Fridays have quickly become a favourite among both day pupils and boarders. They provide a relaxed and flexible introduction to boarding, with no pressure or commitment. Supported by familiar staff, boys enjoy greater independence within a safe and caring environment, building confidence as they navigate small routines away from home.
For many, Fiesta Fridays become a natural stepping stone towards the flexible boarding opportunities available throughout the Prep School and beyond. Most importantly, they offer the chance to have fun, make lasting memories with friends and grow in confidence, independence and resilience along the way.
