Christmas Carols in the Chapel in Aid of Charity

Christmas Carols in the Chapel in Aid of Charity

On Monday, 22nd December, the School Chapel once again opened its doors to the local community for an enchanting evening of Christmas carols in the lead up to Christmas, raising over £6,000 for three worthy causes: Bedford Citizens Advice, Hopeworks, and Movember, the latter in support of the boys’ fantastic Movember efforts.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Bedford Park, which itself includes some 14 past parents and 8 OBs, the event featured the Sharnbrook Community Choir and the Bedford Choral Society, with over 100 choristers taking part in the concert in the school’s atmospheric Grade II listed chapel. The concert was a mixture of traditional carols sung by the choirs, with audience participation in some old favourites that lifted the roof off the chapel.

Bedford Park Rotary President Tom Inskip commented:

“This year’s event was magical. Combining two choirs to sing carols in the chapel’s atmospheric surroundings felt like a perfect way to bring people together, many of whom may never have seen this stunning building, and it is a lovely way to start the Christmas celebrations.”

Following the service, guests moved to the Great Hall, where they enjoyed a festive drink and homemade mince pies, but more importantly, it gave them the opportunity to catch up with old friends and acquaintances.

Plans are already in motion for this year’s event, which is pencilled in for Monday, 21st December 2026.
