The
Adrian Boult Society met on Friday 30 September for a talk on links between art
and music.

The talk
was given by Chris Ridley (Bedford School percussion teacher and timpanist at
Royal Opera House, Covent Garden) and Rob Stileman (former Bedford School Head
of English and keen artist).  The focus of the talk was Stravinsky’s Rite
of Spring
and Picasso’s iconic Guernica.  It was fascinating to
ponder the common elements of these two artworks, both of which have become
symbols of modernity and been the subject of a great deal of controversy over
the last century.

It was
great to see lots of artists join us for the lecture, as well as quite a few
girls from our sister school, Bedford Girls’ School.
