Mo Bros Making Movember Magic!

Mo Bros Making Movember Magic!

The Mo Bros have been on an incredible journey this Movember, raising funds and awareness for men’s health with a series of fun and engaging activities. Their efforts, as always, have brought the school community together in support of this great cause.

Baking for a Cause

The Mo Bros kicked off their fundraising with the first of their delicious cake sales, which have been running every Friday outside the Dining Hall. Cakes of all shapes and sizes were baked and sold, with proceeds going directly to Movember. The sweet treats were a hit, and the bake sale was a fantastic start to their campaign.

Scorpion Football Frenzy

One highlight was the Scorpion Football tournament, which saw boys from across the school taking part in a thrilling three-a-side, three-minute knockout competition. The final match between the Upper Sixth and Fourth Form was intense, with the Upper Sixth emerging victorious. The support for the Fourth Form from the balcony was deafening, showcasing the incredible school spirit. The costumes were a sight to behold, featuring everything from bananas to lifeguards and Toon-ami characters!

Epic Moustache Biscuits

The Prep School joined in the fun by making moustache-shaped biscuits. Year 7 and 8 boys took part, and it seemed like the entire Prep School was involved throughout the morning. The biscuits were not only delicious but also a creative way to support Movember. The Prep boys also got creative in the Art Studio when they designed a giant poster to support Movember, made fake moustaches to wear and had important discussions around men’s health.

Movember Quiz Night

Last Friday, 80 students from Bedford Girls’ School and Bedford School Sixth Form participated in a Movember quiz, written and run by Bedford School boys Tom, Tanay and Millan. The quiz was a great success, bringing students together for a night of fun and learning.

Movember Citizenship

Movember Citizenship is an integral part of the Mo Bros’ campaign, focusing on raising awareness about men’s mental health and fostering important conversations. This initiative includes educational sessions where boys learn about mental health issues, the importance of seeking help, and ways to support one another. Girls from Bedford Girls’ School joined the discussions to talk about consent and healthy boundaries in relationships, emphasising the importance of mutual respect and understanding. These sessions not only educate but also empower students to become advocates for mental health and wellbeing in their communities.

Silent Auction Extravaganza

Looking ahead, the Mo Bros have organised a silent auction with an array of generous lots, including Saints tickets, Six Nations tickets, afternoon tea vouchers and restaurant vouchers to name just a few. These items would make fantastic Christmas presents, and with many items still without bids, there is a great opportunity to grab a bargain. The auction closes at the end of November, so be sure to place your bids soon! You can view all the lots and make your bids here.

Mrs Vicky Marriott, Master in Charge of Charities, shared her thoughts on the campaign, “It’s been amazing to see the Prep School so actively behind the campaign this year. From cookies to conversations, they have embraced this month with dedication and enthusiasm. The Mo Bros have raised the bar with the mo events, with a busy few weeks seeing the whole school community come together to get involved and support.”

With many more activities planned, the Mo Bros are set to continue their fantastic work for Movember. Stay tuned for more updates and get involved to support this worthy cause.
