Joint Y6 ‘Taskmaster’ Activity Morning

Joint Y6 ‘Taskmaster’ Activity Morning

What better way to come together to build friendships and teamwork skills than with some ingenious and fun Taskmaster-style challenges?

This is precisely what our Y6 boys, together with girls from Bedford Girls’ School, enjoyed on Wednesday 11 October, for their first activity morning of the year. True to the TV show, the challenges required persistence, imagination and clever thinking – and many were more complex than first imagined as sneaky secondary challenges were added.

Their first challenge was to find 86 rubber ducks around the playground. On the surface, an easy challenge, but with mini ducks, deviously difficult hiding places and the use of photos, it proved trickier than most imagined. A few groups came close, but none could find them all. Indeed, ducks are still being found, even today!

The boys and girls then split into two sets for their next group challenges. One set was tasked with creating stories in groups containing five objects, precisely 200 words long. The other set was challenged to choose a number between 30 and 60 and come up with five dance moves. Each group then created dances using each movement and lasting the number of seconds chosen. The pupils then switched tasks before coming together to hear the wonderfully creative stories.
