The Bedford School trio of Josh Taylor, Harry Brown and Rob Holden put in great performances to win their ISGA (Independent School Golf Association) Regional Final against Uppingham School on Tuesday 26th January.

The boys, who had convincingly defeated Loughborough Grammar and Wellingborough in recent months to reach the regional final faced their toughest fixture of the season against Uppingham.  Like Bedford, Uppingham School has a strong golf tradition, with teams qualifying for the national finals multiple times in recent years.  However, the boys pulled out all the stops to win convincingly 3-0;

  • Josh Taylor (Upper Sixth) won 1 up on the 19th hole after coming back from 2 down.
  • Harry Brown (Fourth Form) went out 2nd and had a great 4 and 3 win.
  • Rob Holden (Fifth Form) went out 3rd and had a very convincing 7 and 5 win.

Notably, this is the 5th consecutive time that the Bedford team have qualified for the ISGA final.  The team are hoping to improve on their superb 2012 2nd place team finish in this year’s final at St Andrews on 24th – 25th April.

Next up for the boys is the regional semi-final in the HMC Foursomes competition on February 9th against New Hall School. Good luck!
