We were
delighted to welcome back OB Matthew Ayres (00-10) for the Young Enterprise
Bedfordshire County Finals hosted at Bedford School on Thursday 5 May 2016.

Matthew,
who took part in the competition in 2009 while at Bedford School, gave an
inspiring great keynote speech to the pupil teams from schools across
Bedfordshire.

Bedford
School boys in attendance enjoyed the opportunity to talk to the various school
teams about the products and services that they had developed, and gain
inspiration ahead of next year’s competition.  They also spoke with
Matthew about his previous and highly successful Young Enterprise project: a
book entitled ‘What Do You Wish You Had Known at Eighteen?’, which included
advice from prominent and successful OBs including The Rt Hon Lord Naseby PC
(50-55), Michael Brunson OBE (51-58) and Andy Gomarsall MBE (88-93) as well as
many other inspiring contributors such as Sir James Dyson, Sir Alex Ferguson
and Dame Ellen McCarthur.

Kimberley
Lamb, Young Enterprise Manager for Bedfordshire, said: “The Awards highlighted
how the Young Enterprise Company Programme can inspire young people to become
the entrepreneurs of tomorrow and help them develop practical business skills
while they are still young.”

The
overall winners of the evening were Denbigh High School, whose student company
‘Entourage’ manufactured and sold products aimed at the cosmetics market.
Our congratulations go to them.
