A weather hit term meant that we lost our block fixtures with Oundle and Stowe, but all in all an excellent term from the school’s hockey teams. We were well represented from U14D to 1st XI with all boys showing the commitment and perseverance that defines Bedford School. 86 games were played: winning 41, drawing 8 and losing 37. However, the most impressive statistic is how many boys we have representing the school on a regular basis.

Leading the way with wins was the 1st XI who went 11 games without losing a game, a run that included 10 wins and 1 draw. The boys have a National Cup quarter-final against Oakham to look forward to as rewards for their efforts so far. Another measure of success was in the U14Ds where they finished their season with a commanding display away at Uppingham winning 4-0 showing huge amounts of progress throughout the term and ending on a high. It is invariably not all about results, notably the 3rd XI, who gained their first ‘point’ of the term with a 1-1 draw at Uppingham on Saturday. Their attitude, enjoyment and determination to succeed regardless of results, has been exemplary.

Sam Mee, Master in Charge of Hockey said, “It’s been a hugely successful season. Building on the great success of indoor last term, it’s great to see such outstanding hockey from across the board. This puts us in great shape for years to come.”
