Sport Facilities
Bedford School offers an excellent range of sports facilities for hire. The Recreation Centre located on the main school estate offers a large sports hall, four squash courts and a 25-metre swimming pool. Bedford School also has extensive playing fields on the school estate and AstroTurf pitches at the nearby Gordon Field on Brickhill Drive.
Our Sports Facilities
Gordon Field
The Gordon Field offers two full-sized (or 4 smaller) all weather astroturf pitches for hockey or football from September to Easter and 24 tennis courts from Easter to August.
Flood-lights on the first pitch make it ideal for evening hire. Hirers also have access to the on-site toilets and pavilion.
Sports Hall
Our large, dedicated sports hall is highly versatile and can be hired for a wide range of different activities, including.
- Badminton: 7 courts
- Basketball: 1 full size court or 2 small
- Tennis: 1 full size court or 7 short courts
- Volleyball: 2 courts
- Five-a-side Football: 1 pitch
- Indoor Hockey: 1 pitch
- Touch Rugby: 1 pitch
- Rounders or softball: 1 pitch
- Cricket Nets: 6 nets
Squash Courts
Four squash courts are available for hire in the Recreation Centre. The school also offers a squash club. Please enquire to find out more.
Swimming Pool
Our 25-metre swimming pool is available for group hire or private parties. The pool is 2.1m deep (at deep end) and offers start blocks and wave reducing lane ropes. Hire is usually exclusive to an individual group, and this allows for a maximum of 50 swimmers. There are male and female changing rooms and a limited number of lockers external to the changing facilities. There is also a large seating area for spectator viewing on one side of the pool.
