Half Term Adventures

Half Term Adventures

Adventures in France and Portugal beckoned for our Prep boys over the half-term break.

French Trip

Our Year 6, 7 and 8 boys embarked on an exciting journey to the Picardy region of northern France, staying at the charming 18th-century Château de Warsy. Immersed in French culture from the moment they arrived, the boys had a truly enriching experience.

During their five-day adventure, they explored Paris, enjoying a scenic boat trip and a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower. In Amiens, they put their French skills to the test with various language tasks, all while soaking up the local café culture and shopping at the market.

The boys explored the region’s history with visits to the Albert War Museum and Thiepval, taking time to find the names of Old Bedfordians on the monument and sites of the WW1 battlefields.

They also experienced the thrill of ‘Accrobranche’ at a treetop zipline adventure centre and delighted in a visit to an artisan chocolate factory.

Throughout the trip, they embraced the culture, heritage, cuisine (including escargot for the adventurous) and language of this beautiful part of the world.

Portugal Tour

This year’s Prep Rugby Tour took our boys to the vibrant city of Lisbon, Portugal.

Their adventure began with sightseeing in Lisbon’s stunning Old Town.

The following day, they kicked off with a morning training session at the national training centre, guided by a professional coach and former international player. Energized and ready, the boys played their first match against Cascais, facing tough opposition in an exciting evening game.

The next day offered a mix of fun and relaxation with surfing and bowling.

A visit to Estádio do Benfica, the home ground of Benfica, was also a highlight for many on the trip.

All too soon, the tour came to an end, fittingly finishing with a final match played against the backdrop of a breathtaking Lisbon sunset.
