Global Citizens Inspiring Eco-Anxiety Workshop

Global Citizens Inspiring Eco-Anxiety Workshop

Our Global Citizen leaders are brilliant at sparking conversations, generating ideas and helping boys better understand important topics. This month, they have been exploring the theme: Protecting the Environment.

Last week, our Global Citizen leaders took the lead in running a pupil-led workshop on the critical and timely topic of Eco-anxiety.

“The workshop provided a great opportunity for the boys from Year 4 upwards to engage more deeply with environmental issues and their impact on mental health,” said Mrs Dale. “It was fantastic to see our Global Citizen leaders take charge of the delivery and facilitation.”

Representatives from most classes attended the engaging workshop. The boys worked in teams to identify environmental challenges, took part in role plays, and shared views on how climate change affects them and whether these issues should be tackled more openly in schools and society in general. The session sparked lively discussions, allowing boys of all ages to express their thoughts on real-world concerns in a collaborative and inclusive environment.

“The energy and passion in the room were evident,” added Mrs Comani, who supported the session alongside Mrs Dale.

However, the conversations do not stop here; the form representatives will now carry them back to their classrooms. In their tutor groups, the boys will lead explorations of environmental issues through thought-provoking videos, discussion prompts, comprehension tasks, craft activities and topical articles, which will undoubtedly spark even more exciting ideas, insights and viewpoints.

The Global Citizen leaders have also been leading house assemblies on recycling and have even more environmental-themed initiatives and pupil-led activities planned for the remainder of the month.

Looking ahead, next month’s theme will celebrate South Asian Heritage, promising another exciting opportunity for boys to learn, lead and engage.
