We were pleased to hear from OB George Davies (85-95) about his inspirational endeavours to raise money for charity. On Sunday 23rd April 2017, George is embarking on his second London marathon in two years after losing two very good friends to cancer in the summer of 2015 – both within a week of each other, both real fighters.

This stirred something inside him which pushed him to do something in their memory that would really challenge him. Last year, he ran his first sponsored London marathon raising £7,500 for Willen Hospice in the process. A week after completing the marathon, George was approached by the Wooden Spoon Charity to run for them. As rugby is close to his heart, and after seeing what they do as a charity to help disabled children get into rugby and increase their confidence (for life), he felt he couldn’t say no. As such George is now out pounding the streets again and doing half marathons to help raise funds. He is also holding a quiz night at Bedford School on Friday 31st March to raise funds for this great cause.
