Thanks to the generosity of so many Old Boys, parents and friends of the school, the Foundation Trust has achieved a tremendous amount over the past 20 years.

Gilbert Lloyd Sculpture Studio

Thanks to the generosity of Old Bedfordian Gilbert Lloyd (50-58), the old studio, which is located close to the Quarry Theatre, benefited from a major overhaul in 2020, opening the studio up to create a bright and airy space with a wonderful, tranquil ambience. With two picture windows looking out onto the Quarry Gardens, the new studio has been an inspiration to all boys studying sculpture.  Read more about the Gilbert Lloyd Sculpture Studio

Gilbert LLoyd ART GALLERY

On Saturday 23 June 2018 we were delighted to welcome back to school Gilbert Lloyd (49-58) and his wife, Elfie Lloyd. Gilbert has been a great patron of the Arts at the School, and a key element of this special day was to recognise his support over the years. The day commenced with a lecture in the Great Hall by Will Gompertz (78-81). This lecture marked the ten-year anniversary of the Gilbert Lloyd Art Lecture Series. After an enjoyable lunch, a plaque was unveiled to recognise Gilbert and Elfie’s recent generous donation, which was used to update the entrance to the Art School with an exciting new space, named the Gilbert Lloyd Gallery.  Read more about the Gilbert Lloyd Gallery

Campaign for Sport

The ‘Campaign for Sport’, completed in 2012, was hugely successful: the Foundation was able to fund the Langham Pavilion Refurbishment in 2012, the Lindsay-White Fitness Centre in 2010 and the Phillpotts Tennis Courts in 2011 as well as Murray Fletcher Scholarships. The Boat Club Appeal and Golf Masterclasses were also a large part of the Campaign, and we continue to fund these. Read more about the Campaign for Sport projects

Other Projects

In 2008, the exciting Art in the Open project, a fully decked rooftop terrace, was completed. In 2005, the Foundation funded the new state-of-the-art Music School. We have also provided key support to a number of Academic Departments and Sporting Clubs, given assistance with fees and additional costs and been involved with the restoration of the Chapel Ceiling in 2005, as well as Scholarships and Bursaries.

Thank you to all who have contributed and supported the Foundation Trust with these projects.
