Bedfordshire Farmers took on the Ousels (staff team) on Friday night, 5 May. The usual competitiveness ensued with the Ousels putting the Farmers under pressure. With wickets falling after some excellent bowling from the Ousels, the Farmers brought out their not-so-secret weapon, with England Cricketer and Old Bedfordian Alastair Cook (98-03) coming in at number 8!

Alastair has played at this event for the previous two years and we were all delighted he was available to play again, having scored 127 for Essex the day before. With some powerful hitting to entertain the crowds, Alastair got his team up to 139 runs off their 20 overs. Special mention to Mike Pidge who took 4 wickets in his spell. In the end, the Ousels successfully chased down the total with an over to spare, with some excellent batting from Tom Brett and Matt Allen and some big sixes from Matt Gracie, to take the Ousels 2-1 up against the Farmers.

It was a fantastic event with lots of pupils getting bats and shirts signed before settling down to watch some exciting cricket.
