What makes Bedford so special? Why should you come and visit? These were the questions that our Year 4 boys explored in their brilliant ‘Becoming Bedford’ presentations on Tuesday 25 March.
In true Dragons Den style, the boys pitched their fascinating facts and compelling arguments to an esteemed panel of judges: Mr Henry Vann, Upper School History and Politics teacher and Local Councillor; Lydia Saul, Keeper of Social History at the Cecil Higgins Museum; and Richard Banks, past parent and Director at Michael Graham Estate Agents.
The boys’ presentations were nothing short of superb, featuring engaging videos, audience interaction and excellent transitions between topics and speakers, all brilliantly memorised and delivered. The boys confidently declared, “Bedford will blow you away!” and assured that there is “something to engage everyone.”
The judges were thoroughly impressed, commenting on the boys’ remarkable energy and enthusiasm. They noted how they helped the audience “bite into history” with fascinating facts about Bedford’s historic buildings and monuments, beautiful parks, thriving arts scene, industry, schools, transport, exciting future developments, and even the best restaurants in town.
The quality of the boys’ presentations made it a tough job for the judges to pick the winners.
