OB Club Berlin Historical Tour

April 21 - April 23

After a very successful trip to Ypres and the Somme last year to mark the centenary of the First World War, we are planning a trip to Berlin on 21st to 23rd April 2017 to explore the effects of the Nazi Occupation and the Cold War upon the city and its occupants. As in previous years, the trip promises to be most enjoyable with a good mixture of sightseeing, history and socialising.

In the past we have found that this is a great way to bring together all ages. As always we will hope to look at events through the experiences of OBs where possible, and we will again have the highly popular guide Philip Pearce.

We aim to take a party of thirty. The cost will be £520 per person (with a single supplement of £40). This price includes:

  • Return flights including all taxes
  • The use of a coach and public transport tickets
  • All entrance fees
  • An expert guide
  • Two nights bed and breakfast hotel accommodation
  • Travel insurance for those aged under 70
  • Breakfast and two packed lunches

To give you a flavour for the trip, our provisional itinerary is as follows:

Day 1 – Travel to Berlin. Walking tour taking in Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, Fuhrer Bunker, Prinz Albrecht Strasse, Bebelplatz and Neue Wache

Day 2 – Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, Wannsee Conference House and Gleis 17 Grunewald Bahnhof

Day 3 – The Berlin Wall Documentation Centre Bernauer Strasse, The Stasi Prison – Hohenschoenhausen, DDR museum, Treptow Park Soviet Memorial, East Side Gallery. Return travel.

You can book as an individual, couple or small group, with fellow family members or friends. We find that they quickly embrace the ways of the OB Club!
