London Guided Walk – Hampstead Village and Heath

October 16 | 12:00 - 17:00

After two successful walks in the City, we thought that this year we would branch out to explore Hampstead Village and the autumnal colours of the Heath; “A perfectly preserved Georgian village crowning the top of a handsome hill and garnished with the capital's most elegant old world promenade, a medley of cobblestone lanes, pretty cottages, surprising turnings, and unsurpassed views. As for our cast of characters... well, it's every bit as beguiling as our setting, ranging from the highwayman Dick Turpin to the painter Constable to the poet Keats; from Freud and D.H. Lawrence to Sting and Boy George; from Elizabeth Taylor and Judy Dench and Emma Thompson to Rex Harrison, Peter O'Toole, Alan Bates, Dudley Moore, Rowan Atkinson, Liam Gallagher and Jeremy Irons. For good measure, there's London's most villagey atmosphere, white swans on a lake, and magnificent Hampstead Heath.”

Whether you are interested in the heritage, flora, fauna or lives of one of the well-known residents, you will be most welcome. To give people time to get into London, we will meet from midday at The Flask Pub in Hampstead, for lunch and aim to set off at 1.30pm on the walk which will last approximately two hours. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear – we’d like to highlight that the route will be undulating. We will end up at a venue for tea, or something stronger!

The walking tour will cost £8.50 per head.
